Initial Thoughts:

I enjoyed the first movie a lot, it was fun. So when the sequel came out I hoped it would be good too and we went (plus I love movies and enjoy the experience of going to the theater).

Main Points:

The first hour or so of the movie is really good, on par with the first one, then things start to go downhill. First though the positive, great action and special effects, good performances all around and some nice funny parts. I enjoyed seeing Elton John and it was nice to have Colin Firth’s character (Harry) back (and yes they explain why he is still alive).

When I watched this movie I’ve come to realize what a few of my friends say is true, a lot of movies don’t need sequels. I’m a little obsessed with seeing a story continue but I’m starting to see it’s often better off left to our imaginations. The plot quickly becomes very similar to the last film, has a big plot hole (which actually results in the death of a character!) and ultimately made me feel this should really be the end of the movies, no matter how many comics were made.

Final Thoughts:

I still enjoyed this movie and if you’re a huge fan of the first (and this is still in theaters around you) then see it on the cheap. I give it a 7 out of 10. Please don’t bring children, violence, coarse language and sex make this ages 18+ for sure. Until next time (we will likely be a little different kind of post.)
