Initial thoughts:
I’ve come to enjoy Ryan Gosling, he’s a good actor and as I often do with other actors, I will see a movie just because he’s in it. The same goes for Bryan Cranston (who’s also in it), it also got good reviews and was on Netflix, so I watched it.
Main Points:
The movie starts off slow, Gosling plays a very quiet character who falls in love with his neighbor. Once things get going though the movie is intense. There is graphic violence, lots of swearing and lots of blood.
The music is really cool, psychedelic and reminds me of stuff form the late 80s to early 90s (which I usually liked).Crayston plays a small role but is great as always. One of the things I liked is the movie is (for the most part) very realistic. The people act in believable ways and what happens is also something close to real life (for people involved in the mob of course). It’s shot well and the action scenes are top notch.
Final thoughts:
The movie has some good surprises and things don’t turn out the way I thought. Please don’t let your kids watch this, ages 18+ for very graphic violence. A solid 7.5 out of 10 for me. I wasn’t happy with the ending but would still highly recommend if you want an interesting action/drama and don’t mind some gore.
