Initial Thoughts:

Just putting in all the names for actors felt like I was writing a review already! 🙂 Seriously the cast for this much anticipated movie is very impressive. The MCU has been building for about 10 years, I saw every movie they have done in theater, I read lots of Marvel comics, I’m a huge geek (and it’s been a LONG time since I read the comics, so wasn’t even spoiled much) and was greatly looking forward to seeing it. I didn’t go to it opening weekend, too many crowds. But did see it over a week ago.

Main Points:

This movie assumes that you have seen all (or at least most) of the previous MCU movies, otherwise you would be lost. The movie is really a fan service piece, it’s success truly displays both how geek culture is grown and Marvel’s truly incredibly marketing and constant ability to produce quality movies.

I loved this movie, lots of action, lots of humor, excellent special effects, a good story and overall excellent acting from all those involved. The time flew by and I never noticed the 2.5 hours running time. I suppose to talk anymore I should add

Ok, I try not the negative but story is not perfect. While it is pretty good, it doesn’t have the emotional or cultural impact of a movie like Black Panther. I suppose that would have been hard to do, maybe impossible but I also thought that with so many characters and several different stories to join together, it ultimately had to be rushed at times. Back to the positive side I loved how this movie is darker, more adult Marvel. I just wish people didn’t bring kids to a PG-13 movie. This film isn’t for kids, please don’t bring them, it not only ruins my experience (and others around me) it may also be scaring kids and giving them nightmares.

Thanos is an excellent villain. Drawn out, creepy, violent and still somehow still a little likable. Josh Brolin does a fantastic job, I’m looking forward to seeing him soon as Cable in DeadPool 2. Almost none of the characters get any development this movie, there just isn’t time but Thanos does (as does Gamora).

Back to the positive, did I love it? Sure, that’s why I am giving it a solid 8 out 10. I made the mistake of 3D, I would suggest IMAX 2D, there are so many busy scenes I found the 3D often hard to follow and I generally think most films don’t make the most it. Most likely due to most films not originally shot in IMAX and/or 3D. Ok this is long, highly recommend, not for young children. A year is a long time but come on it’s a comic book movie! You know there aren’t leaving 14+ superheroes dead.
